Nanetta Joiner Pressley, a native of Huntsville, AL, is the daughter of an SDA minister and an SDA educator. She is a graduate of Oakwood Adventist Academy and Oakwood University where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. She completed her Master degree at the University of Wisconsin. She has taught a variety of science and math courses in public and church schools around the country. She came to OAA to give back to her alma mater by teaching science with a hands-on, inquiry based, and research-based approach. For over 20 years her students have placed in the local, regional, state, national, and even international science fair levels. Being a part of professional learning organizations such as the National Science Teachers Association and Adventist Science Educators Association has augmented her teaching style to train over 40 students who have finished in graduate and post-graduate health professional STEM fields. Her two children are Oakwood Academy and University graduates. She loves her students, singing, fitness, and spending time with her grandchildren. She strongly believes in the philosophy of Seventh-day Adventist Christian education and Proverbs 22:6: training students mentally, physically and spiritually for this life and the life to come. She counts it a privilege to be a part of God’s work.
