Dawna Swinton Baker

Dawna Swinton Baker owns Sass and Class Design Studio that creates unique, sassy yet classic interior designs and furniture upholstering that withstand the test of time. She also creates signature hand bags and is a talented tailor. She is a native of Huntsville, Alabama who has returned home after serving in the corporate, quasi-federal government and nonprofit sectors, in aggregate, more than 30 years.

Dawna has earned a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and has work both in television and radio as a news reporter, anchor and a general manager in public radio respectively. Passionate about nonprofit organizations, she also earned a master’s in nonprofit and associations management from the University of Maryland University College and held leadership positions at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Washington, DC, and Johns Hopkins University and the Regional F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.

Subsequently to create an opportunity to focusing on her artistic gifts, Dawna founded the Sass and Class Design Studio. In addition to operating this business, Dawna is a multi-sport athlete enjoying swimming, cycling and running. She started competing in triathlons three years ago and has so far completed races in Maryland and California.
