Gwendolyn Woods is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. As newly baptized members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, she and her husband moved to Huntsville, Alabama so that their daughter could benefit from a Christian education at a Seventh-day Adventist school. She has lived in this community for twenty-two years and has been an English teacher at OAA for seventeen years. This school year she will also serve as Guidance Counselor.
She earned both her Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in Counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana. Mrs. Woods believes that she came to OAA well suited for her role as teacher and counselor because of her passion for Christianity, the SDA Church, and young people.
In her free time she loves “to teach”; therefore, she conducts vegan cooking classes and disaster preparedness classes for her church and community. She also enjoys soap making, sewing, wilderness survival camping, reading, painting, installing hard wood floors, and spending time with her daughter, husband, mom, and four hilarious sisters.
Grateful for the ultimate sacrifice and amazing grace of Jesus Christ, she is committed to living a life that is pleasing to Him.
